How To Have A Happy Red Nose Pit Bull

The diet of a pit bull needs to have a variety of poultry, beef, corn, and brown rice. Pit bulls need to have a lot of fiber and a low diet of carbohydrates. The coat of a pit bull should have essential fatty acids. You need to regularly brush pit bulls since they do not shed as often as other shorthaired breeds. You may want to consider getting them used to being vacuumed regularly in between brushings. These dogs do not need bathed often but only as needed. Some owners of pit bulls clip their ears however, it is not part of the customary care and grooming of a pit bull.

As with any dog, annual checkups are highly recommended with the proper vaccinations as early as 6 to 8 weeks. The shots should include distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo, parainfluenza and corona virus or DHLPPC. At 10 to 12 weeks, the second DHLPPC shot should be administered. At 14 to 16 weeks, the third DHLPPC shot and the rabies shot should be administered. In addition, of course your dog should receive the rabies and DHLPPC shots annually.

Pit bulls can be kept either inside or outside. These dogs don't mind living in apartments however, they should be exercised regularly. Because of their short hair and thin skin, pit bulls prefer warmer weather. These dogs must have strong durable toys as well as the proper bedding and bowls for food and water.

Red-nosed pit bulls are have very friendly temperaments because of the quality of breeding. However, they have the tendency to be aggressive around animals they are not familiar with. They are protective of property and their owners but remain very friendly if neither of these two are threatened.

Red-nosed pit bulls need to be well socialized starting when they are puppies. They learn very quickly in obedience training and have excellent tracking and agility skills. Pit bulls need to have exercise daily and frequent long walks. The more vigorous the exercise the better and they would be a great hiking partner. Exercise is essential for two reasons, the overall health of your pit bull and as a way to correct any behavioral problems. Taking long walks helps to build the strong bond with you and your dog as well as burn off any pent up energy.

Remember to have a happy pit bull there needs to be structure and leadership. Having dog friends and little to no exposure to people will make them very unhappy and will cause them to be fierce and aggressive. Learning to be a leader for your dog is not an easy task. Every dog is different regardless of breed and has their own unique language. At times, this language is hard for us humans to comprehend. However as you are learning to understand this language there are many other things you can do to establish structure and leadership between you and your dog.

To have a strong structure show less love. Meaning that as humans, we tend to show too much love and as a result do not establish boundaries for our dogs. This causes a lack of respect, which is a major issue people have with their dogs.

For dogs to have respect they need to know and understand what the rules are. The rules are very easy to establish. A healthy and happy pit bull should have discipline and structure. You never have to use yelling, screaming or hitting for any type of training with any dog. These are not necessary to establish boundaries.
