Training Your Red Nose Pit Bull
Training a Red Nose Pit Bull is not an easy task. Having any breed of
Pit Bull requires extensive training starting when they are puppies.
When training your puppy watch out for the signs of wanting to go
outside. The easiest sign to spot is when they start sniffing around the
house. Watch out for excessive sniffing around the house since that is a
sure sign they are about to go so get them outside immediately. Once you
have them outside it is easy to tell when they are about to go because
again they will start sniffing the ground excessively. Always take your
puppy outside immediately after eating, sleeping, and playing.

Always be ready to clean up a few accidents from your puppy this is part
of training. It is a natural occurrence and once you establish a routine
with your puppy you will be alert to the signs when they need to go
outside. When you take the puppy outside take them to the same area
every time and stay with them for several minutes each time. They will
recognize their own scent and relate that area to "going." It’s also a
great way to establish a certain area for your dog to use instead of the
whole yard.
When your puppy has an accident do not spank it, do not yell at it and
do not rub their nose in it. Doing any of these things will scare your
puppy and create the mindset that "going" is a bad thing. Once they are
scared when they have to go outside they will start hiding even having
accidents in hidden areas. Stay calm pick up the pup, put it outside,
and clean the mess.
They key thing in training a Red Nose Pit Bull puppy is consistency. The
more often you take your puppy outside the faster they will learn that
going outside is appropriate behavior.
Remember to always to take your puppy outside about 20 minutes after
they are finished eating or drinking, before going to sleep for the
night, first thing in the morning when they wake up and immediately when
you come home from work.

One of the most important things for a Pit Bull puppy to learn is to be
sociable around other animals especially other dogs. Start to socialize
them between the ages of 3 to 12 weeks old. This age range is when Pit
Bulls learn quickly and retain what they are taught. Start slowly
showing them various things. Remember never to have your dog around
other dogs until after they have had their first set of puppy shots.
Take your puppy to classes for puppies to help them socialize with other
puppies while also getting the training fundamentals.
When it is time to socialize your Pit Bull stay on neutral ground and
take it slow. Never introduce your dog to other dogs when they are on
their own property. Pit Bulls are territorial and will be aggressive
when on their own property.
Start out with socializing your dog with dogs of people you know and
trust and that have well mannered dogs. This way the trust factor is
already established between you, your dog, your friends, and their dogs,
which makes for a comfortable environment. Do not expect a lot at the
first encounter, socializing your dog is a slow process and if rushed
can affect your dog for the rest of their lives.
As your puppy gets older, remember to exercise them regularly and
encourage your friends to bring their dogs around frequently so your dog
has other dogs to play with.
